Apa itu GROOVE METAL
Groove Metal adalah subgenre dari Heavy Metal. Genre yang satu ini sering di kaitkan dengan Pantera dan Exhorder. Pada intinya, Groove Metal mengambil kehebatan dan kualitas super dari Thrash Metal dan memainkannya dalam tempo yang sedang, namun beberapa band juga ikut terjun sesekali ke tempo yang lebih cepat.
Album Cowboys From Hell-nya Pantera disebut sebut sebagai pencetus dan tunas pertamanya Groove Metal. Seorang penulis buku berjudul “Sound Of The Beast: The Complete Headbanging History Of Heavy Metal” Ian Christe memberikan pujian kepada album Chaos A. D. nya Sepultura dan Pantera sebagai band yang menciptakan Death Metal yang di kemudian hari menjadi inspirasi bagi lahirnya genre Groove Metal pada tahun 1990-an. Band-band yang beraliran Groove Metal biassanya menggabungkan Thrash Metal, Hardcore Punk dan Industrial Musik ke dalam permainan mereka. Gitaris sekaligus Vokalis band Prong, Tommy Victor mengatakan bahwa sikap dan tingkah laku orang-orang yang bergenre Groove Metal datang dari atau bercermin kepada sikap dan tingkah laku nya anak-anak Bad Brains yang aslinya merupakan pioneer dari genre Hardcore Punk.
Sebagai salah satu genre dalam dunia Metal, Groove Metal banyak juga di usung oleh band-band besar seperti Sepultura dan Pantera, namun ada juga yang lari dari Groove Metal atau tidak mau di kategorikan sebagai band yang beraliran Groove Metal. Seperti band veteran Thrash Metal Annihilator yang cabut dari Road Runner Records agar terhindar dari Groove Metal yang pada saat itu sedang gencar-gencar nya di promosikan oleh label rekaman ini.
