Biografi SHAMAN


Shaman atau Shaaman adalah band Heavy Metal/Power Metal dari Brazil yang di bentuk pada tahun 2000 oleh tiga orang mantan anggota Angra yaitu Andre Matos, Luis Mariutti dan Ricardo Confessori. Band ini kemudian menjadi lengkap dengan kehadiran seorang gitaris Hugo Mariutti (adiknya Luis- mereka berdua juga main di band Henceforth)

Shaman merubah nama mereka menjadi Shaaman karena alasan legalitas, namun masalah itu telah terselesaikan oleh mereka, dan akhirnya berubah nama kembali menjadi Shaman.

Pada bulan Oktober 2006, Andre Matos resmi meninggalkan band ini bersama Mariutti bersaudara. Namun Confessori membentuk ulang band ini kembali.

Nama band ini di pilih merujuk kepada praktek religius dari Shamanisme dengan kata Shaman akan membuat orang berfikir mereka asli Siberia.

Mereka memulai tur inisial, negara yang di tuju adalah Perancis, Mexico, Argentina, Chilie, dan Brazil. Untuk pemain Keyboard pada saat live mereka meminta bantuan dari musisi Fábio Ribiero. Mencampurkan unsur Heavy Metal, Musik Klasik dan musik dunia, mereka merekam debut album yang di beri judul Ritual, pada bulan Januari 2002. Semuanya di rekam di Jerman, terkecuali beberapa track yang di rekam di Brazil dan Amerika. Produksi ini di manage dan di produseri oleh Sascha Paeth, yang juga memproduseri album untuk Angra, Rhapsody Of Fire, Edguy dan Virgo dan dengan co-produser bernama Phil Colodetti.

Album Ritual ini di rilis di lebih dari 15 Negara di seluruh dunia. Tur yang mendukung album ini berakhir selama satu tahun setengah ke beberapa tempat seperti Brazil, Asia, Amerika Latin, dan Eropa. Lebih dari 150 panampilan yang mereka mainkan waktu itu, beberapa ada yang dua kali ditampilkan di tempat yang sama.

Selama tahun 2003, mereka masuk kedalam jajaran nomor satu di Brazil, dengan album Ritual yang di nobatkan sebagai best album 2002 dan 2004 oleh pembaca Folha De S. Paulo, sebuah surat kabar Brazil. Kemudian pada tahun 2004, mereka menjadi band pembuka untuk Iron Maiden di São Paulo, bermain di depan lebih dari 45000 penonton.

Band ini kemudian merekam sebuah Live show di Credencial Hall dengan penampilan beberapa bintang tamu spesial seperti Tobias Sammet, Marcus Vianna, Andi Deris, Sascha Paeth, George Mouzayek dan Michael Weikath. Show ini kemudian direkam menjadi CD dan DVD yang di beri judul RituAlive. Enginering dan mixing semuanya di lakukan di studio kreatif di São Paulo, Brazil dan diproduksi oleh Phil Colodetti bersama dengan semua anggota Shaman. Menurut direktur Universal musik Brazil, DVD ini tetap menjadi yang terbaik di genre ini menurut kualitas dan isi kontennya.

Pada tahun 2005, dengan album kedua yang hampir siap dan segera di rilis, mereka merubah judul album mengingat tabrakan kepentingan dengan band lain. Mereka juga menambah huruf “A” pada nama band mereka. Perubahan nama ini muncul setelah adanya band lain yang di rekomendasikan karena pengucapan dan pengertian nama masih sama.

Bulan berikutnya, album dengan judul Reason, di rilis. Hasil dari album ini, yang di mix di Jerman oleh produser Sascha Paeth dan di rekam di Brazil oleh Phil Colodetti di Creative Studio, mencoba mengembalikan semangat Heavy Metal tahun 80-an. Single pertama mereka berjudul Innocence di putar di beberapa stasiun radio dan akhirnya menembus chart lagu tetinggi di Brazil. Video untuk lagu ini jga tampil di stasiun Tv.

Shaaman kemudian menjadi vakum yang di umumkan pada tanggal 12 Oktober 2006, sebuah pernyataan oleh pemain bass mereka di situs fan mereka mengatakan “band ini akan istirahat sejenak”. Ricardo Confessori adalah satu-satunya anggota band yang tersisa memutuskan untuk meneruskan perjalanan band ini dengan formasi baru. Kemudian sebuah album berjudul Immortal  di rilis pada tahun 2007.
