Biografi Edguy


Edguy adalah sebuah band beraliran Power Metal dari Fulda, Jerman.

Edguy didirikan pada tahun 1992 oleh beberapa orang murid sekolahan berusia 14 tahun, mereka adalah Tobias Sammet, Jens Ludwig, Dirk Sauer dan Dominik Storch. Nama Edguy adalah panggilan sayang mereka kepada Mr.  Edgar Siedschlag, guru Matematika mereka kala itu.

Setelah mengeluarkan dua demo, Edguy menandatangani kontrak dengan AFM Records pada tahun 1995. Dua album pertama mereka tidak begitu sukses, namun dengan Vain Glory Opera mereka mencapai sebuah terobosan, terima kasih kepada musisi yang mendukung produksi ini ( gitaris additional ) Timo tolkki dari Stratovarius, begitu juga dengan bintang tamu spesial pada Vokal Hansi Kürsch dari Blind Guardian. Setelah dua album disana mereka menandatangani kontrak dengan Jerman label Nuclear Blast pada tahun 2004.

Pada tahun 2001, Tobias Sammet merilis album pertamanya di proyek sampingannya Avantasia, sebuah skop yang luas untuk Metal Opera termasuk beberapa musisi dan Vokalis ternama di dunia power dan Heavy Metal.

Sejak tanda tangan kontrak dengan Nuclear Blast, Edguy sudah merilis dua album, diikuti dengan album terakhir mereka Tinnitus Sanctus, dan masih terikat kontrak disana untuk tiga album lagi.

Edguy akan mendukung Scorpion pada tur mereka tahun 2010. Album baru mereka direncanakan akan rilis pada musim panas tahun 2011.

Lirik-lirik Edguy sering berkenaan dengan Metafora, menyebut-nyebut Metafisis atau tema sosial seperti ( “The Headless Game”, “Mysteria”, “King Of Fools”. ), pendiktean dari gereja sperti ( “The Kingdom”, “The Pride Of Creation”, “Theater Of Salvation” ) dan bahaya dari Modern Civilisation ( “Navigator”, “The Devil and The Savant ). Untuk meng-ekspresikan tema-tema tersebut, Edguy kadang-kadang menggunakan ekspresi yang rahasia dan kedap udara. Belum lagi beberapa lagu mereka berupa hati yang senang dan komedi seperti ( “Das Reh”, “Save Us Now”, “Lavatory Love Machine”, Life and Time of a Bonus Track”, “Trinidad” ). Edguy menyatakan bahwa mereka tidak mewakili sebuah ideologi apapun, Sammet mengatakan bahwa [ band ini ] tidak beraliran politik dan juga tidak agamis. Pada akhirnya tidak ada kata kunci pada lagu-lagu mereka yang mengatakan pada anda apa yang harus dipikirkan tentanf terminologi tertentu. Edguy juga sering menerapkan syair-syair kepahlawanan dalam setiap album mereka.

Hellfire Club mengungkapkan ketertarikan Edguy dalam berekperimen dengan musik mereka dengan memasukkan unsur Orkestra dalam album ini. Album ini juga termasuk beberapa style Edguy yang berbeda, dengan mengurangi kemegahan, lebih banyak ke tradisional Heavy Metal. Album Rocket Ride malah mengurangi unsur Symphonic dan Power Metal, dan lebih kearah Hard Rock. Album terakhir mereka, Tinnitus Sanctus, malah berisi lagu-lagu yang banyak sekali mengarah ke Hard Rock, kurangnya dobel bass drum adalah sebagai bukti, jelas sekali berbeda dengan album-album terdahulu mereka seperti Vain Glory Opera.
